A Range Rover first, an EV second
Nothing about the silhouette announces the powertrain, which is the point. What changes is underneath: twin permanent-magnet motors making a combined 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft, and a torque response roughly a hundred times quicker than a combustion driveline — the system reads a slipping wheel and reacts in about 50 milliseconds. On a wet Belt Parkway on-ramp or a salted side street in February, that is the difference you actually feel.
The capability numbers are Range Rover numbers, not EV-with-an-asterisk numbers: up to 35 inches of wading depth, a 45-degree maximum hill climb in Single Pedal mode, and the same air suspension and terrain modes the rest of the range uses. Land Rover covers the propulsion system for 8 years or 100,000 miles.
Charging it in Brooklyn
For most owners this is an overnight car. A wall box in a garage or driveway refills a normal week of driving while you sleep, and you leave every morning with a full battery — which, in practice, is the part gas drivers underestimate.
For longer runs, the 800-volt system is the headline. MSRP starts at $138,000, before destination, taxes, title, and fees. The lineup runs SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black, and SV Ultra, alongside a limited launch First Edition. We will go over where your configuration lands before anything is ordered.
How long does it take to charge at home?
On a typical home wall box, overnight. The 118.5 kWh battery is built to be topped up rather than run to empty, so most weeks you are simply plugging in at night the way you charge a phone.
Will it tow and handle weather like the rest of the range?
It keeps the Range Rover hardware — air suspension, terrain modes, up to 35 inches of wading depth, and a 45-degree maximum hill climb. The instant torque response also makes it notably surefooted in rain and snow.
